Major discovery from MIT primed to unleash solar revolution

MIT LogoIt looks like there may be some progress in the pursuit of solar energy as a viable option by solving the storage problem. Scientists have adapted a mechanism similar to the one used by plants to store energy by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. The big question now is figuring out how the oil companies will crush the idea.

“In a revolutionary leap that could transform solar power from a marginal, boutique alternative into a mainstream energy source, MIT researchers have overcome a major barrier to large-scale solar power: storing energy for use when the sun doesn’t shine.”
